President John Mahama has announced plans to start a new program to address environmental issues in the Bono Region. The “Green Bono Agenda” will be launched soon and will focus on planting trees, protecting water resources, and promoting climate-resilient agriculture.

He explained that this program will help fight deforestation, reduce water shortages, and prevent land degradation in the area.

President Mahama shared these plans during a gathering of chiefs and residents at the Sunyani Jubilee Park as part of his ‘Thank You Tour’ in the region.

He emphasized his government’s commitment to restoring damaged forests, cleaning polluted water bodies, and investing in small-town water systems to improve access to safe drinking water for local communities.

The President stated that the program will prioritize sustainable environmental practices and that the Bono Regional Coordinating Council will work with local communities to ensure its success.

He also highlighted the important role of traditional leaders in the country’s development, peacebuilding, and environmental protection, promising to strengthen the House of Chiefs and empower traditional councils for better local governance.
